On March 12, 2025 ruled that Shepherd Bushiri and Mary Bushiri should be extradited to South Africa to answer cases of alleged rape (against Shepherd Bushiri) and contravention of bail conditions, forgery, and fraud for both. On March 13, 2025, a poster labelled 'Presidential Decision' circulated online claiming that President Lazarus Chakwera supports the court's decision to extradite the two.

iVerify Malawi verified the poster and determined that the information on it is false. To arrive at this verdict, iVerify Malawi contacted a number of sources including Presidential Press Secretary Anthony Kasunda who said the poster is not legit. A closer look at the poster also shows that the design differs to other posters on Presidential Decision that the State House has been releasing.
